Baby still can't sit up on his own. Bless him, he tries like there's no tomorrow, but since he is such a long child, I fear it will be a while before he can balance on his own.
He's decided he no longer likes his playmat and only wants to sit when he plays. So in an effort to please the little man, we've gotten him something called a Playnest. It's a jolly, great big, inflatable inner-tube, covered in textured fabric with bits and bobs to keep him entertained. The theory behind the nest is to help children to sit up aided until they are strong enough to sit on their own. As you can see from the picture, it seems to be doing its job (thank God!).
